LEAP aims to transform educationally disadvantaged communities in South Africa through Mathematics and Science focused senior secondary schools. The values-based framework of LEAP creates an empowering educational environment that enables each learner to develop fully as a human being with a positive, caring lifestyle and healthy work ethic. LEAP consists of 3 schools serving Langa, Gugulethu and Crossroads in Cape Town and Alexandra in Johannesburg.

LEAP 1 (Langa) School Principal

 

The successful applicant should:

  • Be an educator who is committed to excellence and working for change in South African education
  • Believe in the innate ability of young people and understand their emotional development
  • Have previous leadership experience at high school level
  • Have strong managerial capabilities – people, administrative and IT skills
  • Have a track record in developing and sustaining a team
  • Have a strong sense of social responsibility and a track record of community engagement
  • Have a good knowledge of the new curriculum
  • Be committed to personal transformation and managing transformation in the staff room
  • Have a university degree and a professional teaching qualification

 

Preference will be given to candidates who:

  • Have strong subject knowledge in one of the following areas: English, mathematics, science, IT
  • Have recent teaching experience, ideally at grade 12 level


The salary is in line with the state education sector.

Personal Assistant to LEAP Executive Director

 

Responsibilities include assisting the Executive Director, managing diary, e-mails, phones and correspondence and undertaking a wide variety of administrative tasks to support people and projects within the LEAP framework.

 

The successful applicant should:

  • Be an administrator who is committed to excellence
  • Have a successful track record in high level professional support at executive management level
  • Have exceptional typing and word processing abilities
  • Be an exceptional written and verbal communicator who is able to manage liaison with supporters, national/international partners and regional/national bodies
  • Have a good working knowledge of IT-linked office computer equipment and packages
  • Be capable of event and special programme coordination
  • Be able to work under pressure
